Grading is held on a regular basis, typically every 3-4 months, and they give the ATMA members the opportunity to try for their next belt under ATM examination conditions. Grading is typically conducted by the Chief Instructor, Master Jacqui Fisher, and the other instructors.

The format of the GUP grading typically involves a Fitness Test, a Knowledge test, Board Breaking and the demonstration of the required Form/s, Applications and Bong form. During the grading it is also very important to be fully aware of the ATMA etiquette in addition to making sure that you are snappy and responsive to the requests of the Instructors!

Where and when is grading held?

ATMA grading operates on a rotary basis, meaning that we take it in turns between our main venues. This makes it fair for everyone in terms of travelling distances. Grading is typically scheduled for every 3-4 months and you should keep an eye on the new page / newsletters for further details!

How long is a grading?

Typical grading sessions will take 2-3 hours as we grade each belt level. A grading is usually conducted in groups of 6-10 and by belt colour. You will sit on the floor at the back of the grading whilst you are waiting your turn
