Sport Relief 2010Sport Relief 2010 - you did it!

Throughout the month of March we had a number of activities in aid of sport relief. We had cake sales at the GUP gradings, Laura Drayton and Lily Suffling did a sponsored run, we had an ongoing quiz, a raffle, a sponsored silence by Aaron Worley and a Quiz night in Meriden.

When all of the sponsor money is in we will have hit our £1000 target! Thank you to everyone that has worked hard to make our fundraising an overwhelming sucess!

Nuneaton Gradings

GradingsNuneaton Gradings

Congratulations to all those who passed their grading at The Nuffield Health Club in Nuneaton on Saturday 6th March. It’s always difficult being ‘first up’, but they gave a good performance and showed full knowledge of their syllabus. The last group of seniors were fantastic – a real inspiration to the lower grades who got the chance to watch them. They really set a great standard! It’s good that the gradings are not rushed and run to time and our decision to spread the opportunities to grade is paying off.

In addition to a great grading experience, we launched our fundraising for Sport Relief 2010 with a cake sale after the work was done – and we raised £78. Thank you for your generosity. Read more about our fundraising later on the site.

Next gradings will be at Woodfield Middle School, Redditch on Saturday 20th March. See your instructor for your allotted time. Northampton gradings will be held after Easter and the Bromsgrove, Solihull and Coventry Schools gradings will be held in accordance with their timetables.

The next opportunity to take Dan grades will be in May – if you are considering entering for this, please make sure you are eligible by speaking to your instructor.

Ryukyu Kobujutsu

Ma'amRyukyu Kobujutsu

I am pleased to report that I recently managed to pass my grading in the weapons art of Ryukyu Kobujutsu. I find the training really challenging and it adds enormously to my understanding of our art and indeed all the arts! I work with a great group of people who, like ourselves, are willing to share all their knowledge in the furtherance of their art. Danny Lee is now also training there with me and is enjoying the challenge of the technical aspects of  what we do….patience, Danny, patience….!!

Bridgend Charity Tournament 2010

Training with the Masters

Bridgend – Saturday 27th February 2010

‘Always up for a session’…that was my response when invited by Master Vivien Thomas to attend a 4 hour seminar with 4 Tang Soo Do Masters down in Bridgend, Wales. We so enjoy going down to South Wales to visit with all our colleagues down there, but this time we also had chance to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
