I started Tang Soo Do ten years ago and haven’t looked back since!  It was something I’d always wanted to do as a youngster (watching ‘The karate Kid’ did it!) but didn’t get round to until I was well into adulthood.  Walking through the door for that first class was really nerve wracking but definitely one of the best steps I’ve ever taken.

I had the opportunity to travel to Tawain in 2003 to train in White Crane Kung Fu and Chen style Tai Chi.  This was an amazing experience with lots of friendships and memories made which further fuelled my passion for martial arts.

In 2004 I was lucky to be able to visit South Korea, the home of our martial art.  Here we studied Dahn Mu Do, climbed mountains in the dark, visited beautiful temples and had our eyes opened to a fascinating culture.  We also taught Tang Soo Do to a number of Korean Masters and demonstrated some of our forms to many international dignitaries there.  It was a truly fabulous experience and one I’d recommend!

One of my Tang Soo Do highlights was performing on stage as part of the demonstration team with the Shaolin Monks in 2005. A very memorable occasion!

I love the personal development element to our art and the fact that there is always something new to learn, making it truly a lifetime’s study.  I also have a passion for weapons, with the kwandao (moon spear) being a firm favourite.  The fact that the whole family can enjoy this art together is a huge attraction and one my son (age 4) enjoys too.
